Numerical simulation of time-harmonic scattering problems with an optimal PML

چکیده
We present an optimal bounded Perfectly Matched Layer (PML) by choosing a particular absorbing function with unbounded integral. With this choice, any spurious reflection is avoided even when the thickness of the layer is finite. We show that such choice is easy to implement in a finite element method and overcomes the dependency of parameters for the discrete problem. Finally, we presents some numerical tests.

An adaptive perfectly matched layer technique for 3-D time-harmonic electromagnetic scattering problems
Abstract. An adaptive perfectly matched layer (PML) technique for solving the time harmonic electromagnetic scattering problems is developed. The PML parameters such as the thickness of the layer and the fictitious medium property are determined through sharp a posteriori error estimates. Combined with the adaptive finite element method, the adaptive PML technique provides a complete numerical ...
متن کاملThe Adaptive Perfectly Matched Layer Method for Time-harmonic Acoustic and Electromagnetic Scattering Problems
Abstract. The recently introduced perfectly matched layer (PML) method is an efficient method to reduce the exterior wave propagation problem which is defined in the unbounded domain to the problem in the bounded domain. Under the assumption that the exterior solution is composed of outgoing waves only, the basic idea of the PML technique is to surround the computational domain by a layer of fi...

متن کاملAn Exact Bounded Perfectly Matched Layer for Time-Harmonic Scattering Problems
The aim of this paper is to introduce an “exact” bounded perfectly matched layer (PML) for the scalar Helmholtz equation. This PML is based on using a non integrable absorbing function. “Exactness” must be understood in the sense that this technique allows exact recovering of the solution to time-harmonic scattering problems in unbounded domains. In spite of the singularity of the absorbing fun...
